Why Does CBD Affect Everyone Differently?

We’ve all had that moment. You just finished an incredible meal at a restaurant, quickly it becomes your new favorite place in town. Excited to share your discovery with others, you take your friend to lunch there. While your meal is just as good as last time, your friend doesn’t feel the same way. CBD, like food, music, and more, has a different impact on different people. As a result, some swear by the amazing properties of CBD, while others simply don’t experience anything after using something like a CBD tincture. Join Drippers CBD as we explain why CBD effects people differently.

Genetics Play a Role

The short answer to a long and complicated question is that your reaction to CBD is out of your control. Your genetic makeup is based on your ancestry across many dozens of generations. Within all of us is the endocannabinoid system. This naturally occurring system uptakes CBD and uses it in the neurotransmitters that run throughout your body. But the size and extent of the endocannabinoid system differ from person to person. So those who experience a more noticeable reaction to CBD likely have more endocannabinoid receptors than those who experience a lesser reaction.

The Effects of CBD are Impacted by Lifestyle

Genetics are probably the largest reason your reaction to CBD is different than others. However, your lifestyle also plays a major role in that reaction. There are two factors that can make the biggest difference in how you react to CBD-based products. These are, of course, diet and stress. If you have a diet that is low in fatty acids, like Omega 3, you will react to CBD more strongly than those who have more fatty acids in their system. Fatty acids affect the endocannabinoid system’s ability to uptake CBD. However, if your diet is high in fatty acids, your body may be slow to absorb CBD. The result is that the effects are less noticeable.

Like diet, stress levels play a role in your ability to absorb CBD. If you have high stress levels or generally feel anxious, the effects of CBD will likely be more noticeable and positive for you. Your body’s CB2 receptors help absorb CBD. These are the same receptors that help us relax and focus. You could feel relaxed and calm after taking CBD because the compound helps stimulate the production of Serotonin, which is responsible for those feelings. Conversely, if you’re a stress-free person with a chill demeanor, taking CBD likely will not enhance your already laidback disposition.

Your Biological Sex is a Factor Too

Similar to genetics, your biological sex is also a factor in your response to CBD. That’s because CBD is processed differently in males and females. Typically, females have been found to be more receptive to CBD than males are. The result is that females generally enjoy more of the benefits of CBD. Of course, that doesn’t preclude males from using and benefitting from CBD. They will, however, have to take larger doses of the same product in order to achieve similar results that females experience. The hormonal makeup of females is what makes the difference here. Estrogen naturally interacts with CBD, and this hormone is more common in females than males.

Other Health Concerns Make a Difference

Some people seek out CBD to address a certain health concern, but they find it does not help them in any way. This could be a sign that there is more going in your health than you first realized. If you’re planning on embracing CBD and making it a part of your healthy lifestyle, it’s best to consult with a doctor first. Similarly, if you begin taking CBD as part of your healthcare regimen, and you’re not experiencing the effects you should be, it’s time to visit with your doctor again.

There are Technical Concerns Too

Of course, on top of all these reasons, there are also user errors to consider. Some users of CBD take the wrong dosage, as there is no “one size fits all” dosage. You may need to experiment with taking small doses, and slowly taking larger doses until you achieve the desired effect. You may not be giving the CBD enough time to take effect. CBD can act quickly for some, but others have to use the products for several weeks before they notice any changes. Finally, you may have bought an inferior product that makes use of a poor quality hemp extract.
